Sensearound
Brecon Coachworks
and Mike Ayres Designs have produced the first mobile Sensory Unit.
Brecon Coachworks Ltd in association with Mike Ayres Designs has produced
the first mobile sensory unit of its kind enabling people with special
needs to enjoy a wide range of sensory experiences for therapy, learning,
relaxation and fun. This can happen in many ways; through special
sound, visual effects, tactile experiences, vibration, use of aromas
and music – in many combinations and variations.
The result is a special space in which
the participant can completely relax, or interact with and control
all the elements; it gives people control, possibly for the first
time in their lives.
It enables people with any degree of disability to change and influence
their environment in a positive way. Multi sensory environments
are used by people of all ages and abilities for relaxation, focused
work, stimulation control, massage, aromatherapy, reminiscence work,
physiotherapy, communication and stress relief. Other uses appear
as needs change and new practices are developed.
